Something else behind the hedgerows

by Freya age 10
(Christchurch, New Zealand)

As I sweep the world behind the hedgerows
I became a hummingbird
I cut the air
I strike the clouds
My feathers shine
My feathers patter like rain
Smoothing my body
A lake of pure silk
Yet softer than silk
Flying through the sky
I love being a hummingbird
I was created by love
A strong power
Magic is strong
I am special
I see the world differently now
Rubbish and smoke thats all it is
So I went somewhere else
A different world
Magic behind the hedgerows
Where I became a hummingbird
Trilling music making everything better
My special occupation
As a hummingbird
