Flies above us, quick and clean Even though it is so tiny and small It towers above the birds, so tall Because of its large heart And its mind, that is so very smart Because of its heart of gold And body so bold Its beautiful song And beak, so long It sings a wonderful melody Filled with harmony It pecks restlessly all day With nothing to say But in the silence Is the faint essence Of the hummingbird so swift and pristine Flying above us, quick and clean
