Dear Little Hummingbird,

by Caylin age 10
(Moorpark, CA)

Dear little hummingbird, where will you go? Perhaps flapping backwards, high and low? Dear brave hummingbird, where will you zoom? Maybe near a honking truck, with plenty of room. Dear curious hummingbird, where will you soar? Where, oh where? I'm begging for more! Alas, little hummingbird, you will not adventure. Instead you'll have babies, but only one will be a "her". And when your hatchlings grow up, they'll zoom and soar. Just like you did, but they'll beg for more.
