Hummingbird feeder bees
can be a serious problem.

Nectar is a mixture of sugar and water and what bee doesn’t love a good sugar treat? How many picnics have you had spoiled by the annoying presence of bees?

For hummingbirds, bees are more than annoying. Varieties of bees such as honeybees, yellow jackets, hornets, and wasps are a serious problem at hummingbird feeders.

Worse yet, our hummingbirds sometimes desert a feeder infested with bees.

These 2 feeders above were
personal experiences at our feeders!

We were invaded by a swarm of Honeybees!

How to Get rid of Bees
at Your Hummingbird Feeders!

1.) Avoid using leaky feeders.

2.) Use bee guards...If your feeders take them

See Our Selection of Insect Guards.

3.) Use Tray Style Feeders....

Our #1 Recommended Defense!

The HummZinger Ultra Feeder

Why a Tray Style Feeder?

The reason why this style feeder works to prevent a bee infestation is because bees, wasps, hornets etc. cannot reach the nectar as long as the level is kept low enough!

After a while they will give up and move on looking for another source.

You will almost always witness a bee on the feeder on occasion but they are just mopping up the tiny bit dropped by a hummingbird while it is feeding.

Usually a single bee or two will not deter hummingbirds from the feeder.

This is a good time to check your
"Hummingbird Gear"!

Check your feeders for damage or leaks and maybe replace them. Make sure they are clean and you have all the accessories you need such as an ant moat to keep those pesky ants off your feeders or a "Hummer Helper Helmet" to shade your feeders in the hot sun.
