A Hummingbird Adventure

Once upon a time, there lived two beautiful hummingbirds. Their names were Flappy and Flutter. Flutter was expecting a new baby. Flappy, her husband, asked, “What shall we name him?”
“Maybe when he comes, we will know,” Flutter replied.
Soon the new, little baby hummingbird arrived. “Oh,” said Flutter, “I wonder what he will like to do. I bet he will like going on adventures.”
“That's it,” both Flutter and Flappy said together. “Adventure. That is what we should name him!"
So, the new baby hummingbird was named Adventure, and his parents were quite sure he would go on many adventures in the coming years.
Time passed, and four years later, Flutter was taking Adventure to Hummingbird Playschool. He asked his mother, “Mom, why do you have to carry me,?”
“Because little Adventure, you do not know how to fly yet,” Flutter explained
“Well, when I do learn to fly, I am going to go on a really neat adventure,” Adventure stated proudly.
“I think learning how to fly is a big enough adventure,” Flutter replied.
One year later, Adventure asked, “Mom, can you teach me to fly?”
“Oh, I guess I can. Adventure, I will teach you how to fly,” Flutter responded.
The day had finally arrived. Flutter took Adventure up into a tree and said, “Adventure, spread out your wings and flap, flap, flap.”
That is just what Adventure did. He flapped his wings very hard and he began to fly. “Look at me Mom,” Adventure yelled
“Great Adventure! You are flying!”
Adventure flew and flew. He really enjoyed getting around quicker and easier. He became used to flying around his home and decided it was time to fly a little farther. “Mom and Dad,” said Adventure. “I am going to fly around and get some supper.”
“Okay,” said Flutter and Flappy.
So, away he went. He found a beautiful field of large, fresh, bright red flowers. He ate and ate the sweet nectar. He got so full of hummingbird food that he decided to take a nap. He slept peacefully.
Meanwhile, a deer was leaping in the field. He spotted a small beautiful flower and decided to take a closer look. Adventure woke up and two very large eyeballs were right next to him.
“HELP!” screamed Adventure.
“Oh no, did I scare you? Where are my manners?” the deer said. “I didn't introduce myself. My name is Leapster and I am from London. What is your name?”
“M-m-my n-n-name is A-A-Adventure,” he responded.
“Oh, don't be scared Adventure,” Leapster replied. “Where are you from?”
“I am from here,” Adventure said. “Would you like to go to my house? We could have a party to celebrate making new friends.”
“Sure,” Leapster responded. “I would be delighted to visit your house and I am very happy to have a new friend.”
So, the two best friends went back to the big oak tree and had a very nice party. Adventure's first adventure was a great one which gave him a friend he would spend many days with for the next many years.
