One Quiet Spring Day

by Catalina G. Hill age 10
(Corpus Christi, TX, US)

One quiet spring day
I was lying in the grass
When a little bird, humming flew past
And I thought to myself, What a quiet spring day

I stood up and followed this bird
When it flew to a flower and relaxed, I knew it was a hummingbird
I watched this little hummingbird
And I thought to myself, What a splendid spring day

I made some hummingbird food
And it came out, and drank from the tube
As I watched the hummingbird eat
I thought to myself, What an amazing spring day

As the hummingbird finished the food
It flew around me with great gratitude
As I climbed into bed
I thought once more, What a quiet spring day

GOOD JOB
by: Anonymous

Isn't it very odd? Well, I suppose that the child, Catalina, likes to write poetry. I like it because its free verse. Good job, Catalina!

How unusual--
by: Janet

How unusual for a child of that age to find peace in her interactions with a hummingbird!
