Surface Preparation & Application:

  • Clean Thoroughly: Use alcohol to clean the window and suction cups, ensuring no dirt or residue remains.
  • Apply Petroleum Jelly: Rub a tiny dab of Vaseline or vegetable oil on the  the cup to prevent air from getting in; smear a little bit of oil on each cup. 
  • Push from Center: Press the center of the suction cup firmly against the glass to release all air bubbles. 

Maintenance & Best Practices:

  • Reapply Periodically: Every few weeks, take the feeder down, clean the suction cups and window, and reapply.
  • Temperature Matters: Apply when the window is warm (not freezing) to ensure the plastic is pliable.
  • Softening Cups: If the suction cups are stiff, soak them in hot water for a few minutes to make them more flexible before applying.
  • Reduce Weight: Avoid overfilling the bird feeder to minimize stress on the suction cups.
